World Health Day

Since 1950 the 7th April has been known as ‘World Health Day’ to help raise awareness and ensure that everyone globally has access to quality health services.

The World Health Organization (WHO) choose a worthy health theme for their campaign annually to highlight specific issues such as obesity, mental health and depression.

This year the theme is Universal health coverage: everyone, everywhere

About 100 million people are pushed into extreme poverty each year because of out-of-pocket spending on health.

Recognising and helping those employees experiencing ill health themselves, or that of a close relative, can make a difference to their performance and productivity. Therefore, the well-being of staff should be something that all businesses are aware of in the work place and considered an investment bringing teams together and improving morale.

Take a look at a few of our well-being initiatives that can be put into practice:

  • Create a balanced workday – planning your day and focusing on single tasks and taking breaks when appropriate away from the workspace.
  • Promote fitness – encourage walking groups during lunchtimes, promote ‘a mile to work’ challenge where employees cycle or walk a mile to work each day or even take a walking meeting with a colleague round the block
  • Creative Collaboration – create an area that colleagues can get together informally to bounce ideas around
  • Flexible working – take a more flexible approach to working hours allowing staff to work when they are at their best
  • Remote working – looking into the possibilities of offering a day working from home
  • Community Days – team building initiatives helping others i.e. fundraising events, cleaning up the community.
  • Development courses – help improve employee skills while gaining a personal achievement

There are many ways to improve the general well-being of your staff and Clover HR will be pleased to advise you on the best approach for your business.  For more information call Clover HR on 0121 516 0299 or email us at info@cloverhr.co.uk for further advice on how we can help you!
